new "Remote-care handbook" (This book is written in the Japanese language)

People who live away from Japan worry about how to look after their aged family member. Many feel guilty for not being able to help, some have to take extended leave from work when an aging parent suddenly became ill, and others regret for not being with their parent when they pass away.

Kiyoko and Yoko Moriyama (Executive/Life coach) wanted to create a book to lessen those circumstances. The book covers complicated Japanese long term care insurance and services, and various types of senior housings in plain language. It also contains end of life care, arrangement after death, and "how to talk with your family members" about difficult conversations.

We are going to raise fund to publish through crowd funding (Generosity/enkakukaigo) starting 1/21/2017. If you have a Japanese spouse or friend who has aging parent(s) in Japan, please let them know about this book.

A Manual for Successful Studying Abroad by ALC, Inc (This book is written in the Japanese language)

As a counselor who has worked with many Japanese students in the US, the author explains what Japanese students will go through and what they can do to have successful study abroad experiences. Deciding whether to study abroad or not is the first chapter in which she shows ways to set your goals and to deal with oppositions, fear, and doubts. After the arrival, cultural shock and other challenges such as stresses of learning English, living with host family, discrimination, and relationships are waiting for them. Many Japanese think that if you work hard, you can accomplish anything, but doing only this will lead to burnout when you are living in a foreign country. Instead, she suggests you need to switch your mentality to overcome these challenges; that is to learn American ways of thinking and communicating. This book has concrete advice using actual cases in counseling and methods that students can use to solve problems by themselves, such as adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.
